The Days are Long and the Years are Short

When I was a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids under 4 years old, the days felt sooooo long. Especially in the winter when it was hard to take the three of them out anywhere.

You could almost hate or resent those times. The kids are crazy and needy in the house all day. There's no one for you to talk to, you don't have a minute for yourself. It was SO hard.

A very smart mom told me to remember that "The Days and Long and the Years are Short."

That gave me so much perspective. Its so much easier to get through a hard time once you just realize its but a brief stage of life.

My kids are no longer that little. We are so busy and they are all in school and now I just don't see ENOUGH of them.

I'm happy now that I was able to stop resenting those hard days at home with my little ones, but to enjoy then for what they were, a difficult but precious, stage.

Thanks Stephanie. That is very profound. So often we just want to get through the day, only to find there is another one waiting. Then all of a sudden the year is gone and we are left wondering what happened. - Geoff
